We care for women's cardiovascular health at all stages of life.
To promote cardiovascular health in women.
To prevent, diagnose and manage all forms and types of cardiovascular disease in women, including hypertension and its associated risk factors.
To promote education and teaching in cardiovascular health for women — in the areas, countries and populations most in need of such services.
To promote and support research in the prevention, diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease in women.
To provide financial support to those working towards these objectives whose own circumstances would not otherwise permit it.
To assist and support all those actively engaged in cardiovascular healthcare, teaching, education and research for women, wherever the need is greatest.
Members are involved in the goals and aims of the Foundation, participate in decision making, and help promote research in the field.
Become a memberCardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women worldwide. Yet for decades it has been studied, diagnosed and treated as if the typical patient were a man — and women have paid for that gap in missed diagnoses and lost lives.
Women are more likely than men to have heart disease missed or diagnosed late, partly because their symptoms can differ from the "classic" pattern medicine was trained to expect.
Women remain under-represented in cardiovascular clinical trials, so much of the evidence that guides treatment was never built around them.
The burden falls hardest on the countries and communities with the fewest cardiologists, the least screening and the weakest access to care — exactly where the Foundation directs its work.
Risk changes across a woman's life — from pregnancy to the years after menopause, each stage carries its own signals. That is why we care for women's cardiovascular health at all stages of life.

The International Foundation for Women's Cardiovascular Health exists to promote cardiovascular health in women — and to change the fact that the leading cause of death in women remains under-recognised, under-researched and unequally treated across the world.
We work to prevent, diagnose and manage all forms of cardiovascular disease in women; to promote and support research and teaching in the field; and to assist those delivering cardiovascular care, education and research for women in the countries and populations most in need.
The Foundation is led by an international Executive Committee of cardiologists, surgeons and clinicians.
Meet the committeeKnowledge saves lives only when it reaches the people who deliver care. The Foundation promotes education and teaching in women's cardiovascular health with a deliberate focus on the areas, countries and populations most in need of such services — and its education and training work is built around three commitments.
Programme details will be published here as they are confirmed. If you would like to contribute to the Foundation's education and training work, we would like to hear from you.
Become a memberThe Foundation's next conference takes place in December 2026, bringing together clinicians, researchers, educators and advocates working in women's cardiovascular health from around the world.
Dates, venue, programme and registration details will be announced on this page.
The latest research and clinical practice in the prevention, diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease in women.
Teaching sessions and workshops that turn current knowledge into better care, wherever delegates practise.
Connecting those working in women's heart health across continents — with particular attention to the regions where the need is greatest.
Register your interest and we will let you know as soon as the programme and registration open.
